Necklift

A Neck Lift is a procedure both young and older patients undergo to correct genetic, weight loss and inevitable aging concerns. Excess fat, too much skin resulting from weight loss and weakened or loose neck muscles commonly called a “turkey wattle” are treated with a variety of procedures, sometimes in companion with a facelift, brow lift or liposuction.

A Platysmaplasty removes or alters weakened or loose neck muscles while a Cervicoplasty is the procedure used to remove excess skin, depending upon your specific need. Neck liposuction is used to remove excess fat. In some cases, Botox injections may be the answer to your problems if you have fullness or banding (deep creases) on the neck.

Typically, a Platysmaplasty or Cervicoplasty neck lift lasts two to four hours.

Platysmaplasty surgery requires that Dr. Lee make incisions under your chin and/or behind your ears to access the platysma (neck muscle) and manipulate it accordingly, sometimes removing some muscle. Just like the platysmaplasty, similar incisions are made for a cervicoplasty, trimming parts of the skin and lifting it into place, securing it with tissue glue or stitches. The anesthesia used for a necklift depends on the patient’s level of comfort and can range from general to local anesthesia.

Removing excess fat, particularly on younger patients undergoing a neck lift, Dr. Lee makes a small incision below the chin and removes the excess fat. Often this condition calls for an endoscopic neck lift, a less invasive procedure in which Dr. Lee makes smaller incisions and uses an endoscope (small camera attached to a thin tube) to complete your surgery, take only about one hour to perform and less downtime afterwards.

Instead of surgery or in addition to it, Botox injections can relax parts of the platysma that cause the appearance of banding on the neck. Injections alone are completed on an outpatient basis and typically can be completed within 15 minutes.
