Whether it’s because you would like to wear certain clothes, make your waist appear smaller, or simply restore the way you once looked before age and pregnancy took their toll, breast augmentation can help you achieve that goal.

Performed under general anesthesia, there are many options available with breast augmentation to ensure you are completely satisfied. Choosing the size and type of implants is one of the preliminary steps. Your lifestyle, personal preferences and your plastic surgeon’s recommendations are considerations to weigh thoughtfully. Silicone breast implants are suddenly new again after being off the market for a number of years. Now that the FDA has approved them for use in augmentations vs. simply for restorative breast surgery, women who have been borderline about augmentation surgery are now opting to proceed. The reason for that is that the silicone implants are inserted over the muscle tissue vs. under and thus the surgery is less invasive and less painful.

For a number of years, the only option for augmentation was saline implants. Both types have been rigorously researched, tested and tested again. In addition to coming in either saline or silicone, breast implants come in a variety of sizes correlating to your bra cup size. The weight, shape, diameter and profile of the implants differ. Incisions are discreetly located along the breast crease, around the nipple or under the armpit, minimizing any appearance of scars. The breast implants are positioned either behind the breast tissue or under the muscle depending on whether they are silicone or saline.
