The Lower Body Lift is performed to remove excess skin and sometimes also fat from the torso and upper legs (affecting the abdomen, back, buttocks, hips and thighs). Candidates for body lifts typically either cannot lose significant amounts of weight, or already suffer from loose (inelastic) skin on many or most areas of the body as a result of age, childbearing or extreme weight loss due to diet, exercise or bariatric surgery.
This procedure is often combined with a breast lift; facelift and arm lift to retain a proper body proportion. The lower body lift may also help to minimize the appearance of cellulite. The surgery, sometimes done in conjunction with liposuction, removes excess skin and fat, leaving a thin scar that is placed discreetly within bikini lines. For patients not desiring a full lower body lift, a buttock lift or a thigh lift can be performed as a separate procedure to tighten sagging muscles or remove excess skin in these areas.
